Scott R. Baker has been practicing law since 2006, primarily focusing on municipal law, criminal prosecution, and ordinance enforcement. He is one of the founding partners of Baker & Elowsky, PLLC.
His expertise in municipal law includes attending and providing legal advice during City Council meetings and Township Board of Trustees meetings along with advising municipalities on ordinance and code enforcement issues, special assessments, zoning/land use, contracts, as well as other issues affecting municipalities. He also represents various municipalities on State Tax Tribunal issues. Additionally, Scott represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters, as well as representing clients concerning real estate, consumer law, and criminal matters.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 2002 from Alma College. He earned his law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 2005 and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in January of 2006. Scott is admitted to practice in all state courts in Michigan as well as the United States District Court-Eastern District of Michigan.

He is also the city attorney for the City of Lathrup Village as well as the assistant township attorney to the Charter Township of Lyon. His work includes representing these municipalities in valuation disputes in the Michigan Tax Tribunal, as well as providing legal advice to the Lathrup Village Planning Commission and the Charter Township of Lyon Zoning Board of Appeals.

CAREER & PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Throughout his career, Scott has been involved in civil and criminal cases in numerous district courts in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Lapeer Counties. He has also participated in civil and criminal cases in the Circuit Courts for Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Lapeer Counties as well as the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Scott is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Indian Lake Improvement Association. He is an active member of his community and has provided volunteer assistance to the Macomb County Care House in the past.
Scott has been selected by the rating service, Super Lawyers, as a 2013 Rising Star. The Rising Star list recognizes the top up-and-coming attorneys in the State of Michigan for their outstanding professional achievement.
